In a far flung corner of the Seychelles, 240 kilometres east of Mahe, acess is via a scenic 45 minute flight, usually in an 8 passenger aircraft. There are currently 5 scheduled flights per week and the airstrip on Desroches Island is excellent.
Accommodation & Facilities
The original resort consisted of 20 luxurious beach suites, all located down the western beaches of the island. Contemporary and stylish, these rooms have polished wooden floors and neutral shades as well as stunning en-suite bathrooms. With their own private verandas and gardens, they are a mere 25 metres from the sea and include air-conditioning, lounge area minibar and more.
The 28 new ‘villas’ are absolutely huge in size and offer the utmost in luxury. Beach Retreats have a private plunge pool; the Beach Villas have their own rim flow private pool and super modern kitchen. Dibwa Retreats are surrounded by dense jungle, located within the Madam Zabre Beach then there is the Dibwa Residence that combines two beach retreats at 881 square metres. The Madam Zabre Spa Retreat has 3 private pools (one connected to each bedroom) and a large central area, kitchen and entertainment area and room for up to 6 adults.
All rooms have private decks and open air bathrooms and offer the most exclusive island living experience imaginable.
The main area has a large T-shaped pool on the southern point of the island, there is a boutique selling unique trinkets as well as a library.
There are 2 restaurants, both carefully preparing the freshest imaginable cuisine, often plucked straight from the sea. You will probably find yourself dining barefoot on the beach a majority of the time.
There is an array of relaxing and adventurous activities to indulge in. Explore using bikes and kayaks around the island, or head out snorkelling to witness the colourful coral reef that protects it. You could enjoy a spot of fishing, try paddle boarding, have a go at windsurfing or even try the hydro-bike. Enjoy the islands many nature trails on land, or organise some scuba diving out in the ocean. You can search for the giant tortoises, explore other islands by boat or take a relaxing sunset cruise. There is a spa and gym for your use or play tennis, or just relax on the beach.
Children are welcome. They will enjoy the island much more if they are at the age where they can happily ride a bike.
