Privately owned, Denis Island is within the outer islands of the Seychelles, a stunning coral island 53 miles north of the capital of Victoria. The island only has an area of 131 hectares and is about a 30 minute flight from Mahe.
Accommodation & Facilities
The 25 cottages and villas stretch along the north-west coast, some set a little back into the gardens, still with ocean views. Categories include Beach Cottage; right on the waterfront with their own private beach and wine cellar, Beach Villa; with a private courtyard, plunge pool, sala and day bed, Deluxe Beach Cottage; with their own private garden, beach and terrace and the Family Villa; with a large deck and ample space for the family. All villas and cottages have outdoor bathrooms and showers within their private garden courtyard. There are no keys and no TV’s here.
The main building is home to the reception, bar, lounge and pool deck. There is also a snooker table, a library and the activity centre.
Eating here is a big part of the experience and the island is your oyster, whether you choose a romantic candle-lit dinner on the beach or a table for two on the deck of your villa. Cuisine is prepared with the freshest ingredients to the highest standards, for a culinary experience you won’t forget.
With a motto of ‘The Island is yours – do as you will without disturbing others’ from the owners, the Mason family, you are free to roam and explore as you please. Laze on the pristine beaches, sink into a lagoon and explore the forests. There are myriad ocean sports available, from snorkelling for clownfish, parrotfish, rays and turtles to diving for reef sharks and tuna or watching for whales and dolphins. Other activities include canoeing, fishing, tennis, board games, bird watching, jogging and the wellness treatments.
Children are welcome on Denis Island, babysitting and early dinners are available on request.
