About Machaba Camp, Okavango Delta (Khwai area)

Machaba Camp is a luxurious tented camp located in the Khwai area of the Okavango Delta. Its name means fig tree and in the local area this symbolises life. The focus of this camp is to get back to nature and truly appreciate the beautiful world around us; the outdoor showers are the perfect setting for this!

Being situated on the Khwai riverbank it is in an amazing location for spotting game and other flora and fauna; seeing the animal’s daily expedition down to the river is incredible.

Accommodation & Facilities

The accommodation at Machaba Camp consists of eight twin tents and two family tents; each is en-suite and also have an outdoor shower-showering beneath the stars with the sounds of the wildlife surrounding you is an incredible experience. The tents are spacious and are located on the banks of the Khwai River; your private deck is the perfect spot to view the range of animals which wander past your tent.

There are a number of communal areas including the main tented area which is often used as a dining area, a heavily stocked library as well as the beautiful swimming pool complete with loungers. Wherever you choose to unwind there will always be an absolutely stunning backdrop of the Khwai River or the Moremi.

Dining

All meals are included in the rates at Machaba Camp; they are timed around the morning and afternoon game drives. Pre-dinner sundowners and canapés can be enjoyed around the fire pit each evening which is the perfect setting for sharing your exciting stories about the day.

Activities

At Machaba Camp both day and night game drives take place on a daily basis; you will head out into the Reserve with your local guide who has an incredibly in depth knowledge of the surrounding areas. There is also the opportunity to take a guided game walk with an armed range. You may also wish to take part in an excursion; options include visits to local villages and going out onto a mekero, which is a version of a canoe.

Child Policy

Children of all ages are welcome at Machaba Camp; however if there are any children under the age of six you will have to book a private safari vehicle.
