My role is to spearhead the strategy and management of the NWS Paid Ads. The combination of data analysis with the attention to creative detail of messaging is what drives me to create personalised ads that appeal to our client’s needs.
What is your favourite travel destination and animal?
One of the first things you’ll notice about me is my obsession with cats, which is made obvious by the jewellery I wear, conversations I spark up, and comes into play with most experiences in my life. If there is a cat, or the potential of a cat meet and greet, I will find them! I have enjoyed a small cat feeding experience at Kent’s Port Lympne Safari Park; it work alongside internationally renowned animal conservation charity Aspinall Foundation.
What is your most memorable wildlife encounter?
Feeding honey to brown spectacle bears. It was a real life Winnie the Pooh experience that I will always remember. It was fascinating to learn that female spectacle bears can control the gestation period of their pregnancies; if they feel that the environment they plan to give birth in is not favourable, they can prolong their pregnancy until it is, or they can abort the pregnancy entirely.
If you could do just one NWS safari, which one would it be and why?
I would love to do one of the Big Cat safaris (what a surprise!) with one of the great SLs; Steve Winter or Steven Bobzien. I have lost touch with my love of photography and I think this would be a perfect opportunity to re-spark that interest again!
Why do you travel?
I used to travel for excitement and thrills, but now I’d much rather travel for culture and landscapes. One aspect of my travels that has never changed, and will never change, is incorporating as many wildlife experiences as I can cram in. Nature and wildlife is so spectacular and I want to see as much of it as I can in my life.
Aside from travelling, how do you maintain your connection to the natural world?
As I have an extremely digitally based role, I make sure that I take time to switch off and turn away from screens. I will go for a walk on the beach, in the woods, or simply a nearby park on my lunchbreak to stop, feel and listen to the world around me (excluding people and traffic) – I just want to feel connected to the earth. This is always refreshing and feels like a moment where my body can recharged.
