An environmentally-friendly lakeside lodge consisting of traditional thatched-roof cabañas.
Setting
Situated on Lake Challuacocha in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon, to the north of Yasuni National Park.
Accommodation & Facilities
Sani Lodge is comprised of 10 thatched-roof cabañas and four larger family rooms, as well as several camping pitches on platforms a short walk from the main site. Each of the cabañas has an en-suite bathroom and sleeps up to three people, while the family rooms can accommodate up to seven guests at a time. All electricity at the lodge is generated by solar power.
Overlooking the lake there is a lounge, bar and dining area, with hammocks, binoculars, books and games available for free. Guests can also purchase handicrafts made by the local community.
Dining
Meals are served in the lodge’s open air dining room and consist of both local delicacies and international cuisine.
Activities
There are many activities on offer at Sani Lodge. Visit the 37-metre-high observation tower for stunning views over the rainforest canopy, looking out for the diverse bird species and other wildlife, or the parrot clay lick where parrots and parakeets gather in large numbers. There are a number of hiking trails snaking their way through the rainforest which can be explored on guided day and night walks. Guests can also enjoy boat trips along the Napo River, go canoeing and fishing in the lagoon or visit the local community at Sani Isla.
