Setting
Within the 1,200 hectare Rainforest Biodiversity Reserve on the western slopes of the Andes, just 2.5 hours from Quito.
Accommodation & Facilities
There are 19 rooms and 3 suites, each generous in space and amenities and are spread over 3 floors. The Wayra Rooms feature different bedding arrangements for couples or families, and three of them can interconnect for even bigger groups. Each room is en-suite, features modern décor and floor to ceiling windows ensuring that each morning you wake up to the most captivating forest view. Yaku Suites (meaning water in the Kichwa language) are larger, located on the first floor, and have a Jacuzzi with a view as well as even more luxurious bathrooms. Some suites have floor to ceiling glass windows on two sides, with the forest only metres away.
The lodge is designed in a minimalist style, welcoming the outdoors at every opportunity, yet keeping the critters of the rainforest at bay. On the first floor of the lodge you will find the ‘Reading and Learning Area’, as well as a small boutique. On the north western corner the shaded terrace offers interrupted views and comfortable seating. There is also a Wellness Space with a Jacuzzi, massage and treatments all using natural local ingredients. Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge if you need it, but this is a great place to detach yourself from the outside world.
Dining
The dining room is over two stories and the cuisine inspired by the diversity of Ecuadorian cuisine.
Activities
There is a huge variety of adventure to be had here, with an exciting reserve to explore and lots of fascinating flora and fauna species. The Canopy Gondola glides guests through the canopy over 2 kilometres for a dramatic view. The area numerous nature trails, night walks and an observation tower. The Sky Bike is a fascinating zip-line style experience, designed for two people to use at once as you pedal between two points in the forest (over 8’s only). Make sure you take a refreshing dip in some of the waterfalls and pools dotted throughout the reserve, and head to a lek where you may spot the fascinating mating displays from male birds. The reserve is excellent for photography and the naturalist guides are truly expert in their field.
