Pousada do Rio Mutum is located in the municipal district of the Barao de Melgaco, thought to be one of the most beautiful regions of the entire Pantanal. This eco-lodge naturally blends into its stunning surrounding environment, letting you completely absorb yourself in nature.

Stay in one of 22 cottage-like apartments, connected via stony pathways where you will be surrounded by rich Brazilian wildlife, otters playing on the shore, crocs bathing in the sun. The activities here are fantastic, and just another way for guests to disconnect from their urban lifestyle.

Setting

Surrounded by the flora and fauna, among the wetlands of the Pantanal, within 7 hectares of parkland.

Accommodation & Facilities

The apartments are wonderfully cottage-like with tiled roofs, white washed walls and little bursts of garden out the front. Hammocks swing lazily in the breeze outside, whilst the comfortable and colourful interiors make for a cheery welcome. All rooms have air conditioning, ceiling fans, mini bar and a closet. Cottages are attached and connected to the rest of the facilities via cobble stone paths, where along the way you will find the swimming pool and shady little nooks to keep out of the sun. The swimming pool is great for both adults and children, with a panoramic bar and there is also a TV and reception room for those wanting a little indoor time.

Other facilities include laundry services, a souvenir and convenience store and satellite internet.

Dining

Meals are served buffet style, and are of good quality in a wholesome style.

Activities

The lodge has rowing canoes for trips through the wetlands, a jeep for safaris and motor boats for trips through the bays and small rivers, where you can stop to enjoy the sunset or enjoy a spot of famous piranha fishing. Guests may wish to visit Cuiaba-Mirim, a fishing community by the side of the river, or join a night departure to experience the nocturnal animals. A popular activity, and well worth your time, is horseback riding through the dense forests and across the wetlands, a once in a life time experience to capture the wild and outstanding natural beauty of this area.
