Setting
Situated on the Maraú Peninsula, an idyllic area with stunning islands, beaches, lakes and mangroves on the Dende Coast in the state of Bahia. The lodge is a two and a half hour drive from Ilhues and 15 kilometres from the nearest town.
Accommodation & Facilities
In the main building of Butterfly House there are three luxurious suites available as well as five private bungalows for you to relax in. The Amirante bungalow is a particularly great choice for families and has two balconies where you can truly experience the breath-taking panoramas of the area; one of these is entirely private and features an outdoor show. The Sara and Agra bungalows are also fantastic for families and small groups travelling together as there is a shared balcony combining the two. The three suites within the main house are ideal for couples and honeymoons; private, comfortable and wonderful views over the gardens, pool and the ocean. All of the rooms and suites at Butterfly House have either private bathrooms or en-suites and a beautifully decorated with rich woods and delicate fabrics.
Dining
The Butterfly House has an exquisite on-site restaurant called ‘Anna banana’ as well as serving delicious dishes the view from the dining room is simply breath-taking. All of the ingredients are locally sourced; from nearby villages and local fisherman. Breakfast is usually comprised of fresh, tropical fruits, juices and steaming coffees. The menu for lunch and dinner changes during the seasons to ensure the ingredients are served at the best time of year.
Activities
There is plenty to keep you busy during your stay at Butterfly House; in large due to its wonderful location on the Maraú Peninsula. A wonderful location for snorkelling and diving there are ample natural swimming pools as well as thousands of tropical fish to be discovered in the clear, blue waters. The Tremembé waterfall is just a short distance from the main building and is an incredible place to enjoy a natural hydro-massage and a picnic by the waters. Surfing and paddle boarding is also a popular choice, especially as Butterfly House has its own private beach area. During the months of October and November you may also be able to spot the humpback whales from the shores.

Children are welcome at Butterfly House. Cots are available in the guest rooms subject to request.
