Barranco Alto Eco-Lodge detail
Style
A small, traditional house which is in the middle of a fully functioning ranch.
Setting
Barranco Alto Eco-Lodge is situated in the heart of the Southern Pantanal and the Pantanal Wetlands. It is a 6 hour drive from Campo Grande Airport or 1 hour by light aircraft transfer.
Accommodation & Facilities
As the owners are extremely eco-conscious this is completely reflected in the architecture and style of the four bedrooms within the traditional-style ranch house. Where possible the furnishings and design of the rooms are made from renewable materials; there is also eco-friendly lighting and water conservation systems in place within all of the rooms.
Being so close to the river you will have the rare opportunity of witnessing a family of giant otters fish for their breakfast, this happens almost at dawn. On the ranch there are over 400 types of birds and animals, over 100 lakes and a number of untouched vegetation.
Dining
The dishes served are typically Brazilian; incorporating many local products and flavours. Where possible the ingredients come from the ranch itself from the fresh cow’s milk at breakfast to organic meats and cheeses during dinner.
Activities
The Pantanal is the perfect location to witness a cast array of wildlife from giant anteaters to hyacinth macaws and if you’re lucky even the wide eyed jaguar! This can be witnessed in a variety of ways from open 4x4s, hiking, canoeing and on horseback. As Barranco Alto is still a fully functioning cattle ranch there is an opportunity to take part in the daily activities of a cowboy.
Child Policy
Children are welcome at the Barranco Alto Eco-Lodge, however due to the long journey to get to the lodge it is advised that it would not be suitable for very young children.
