The Great Argentinean Adventure

A complete Argentinean adventure; experience the breathtaking Iguassu Falls, the verdant wetland and wildlife haven of Esteros del Ibera, the marine wildlife of the Valdes Peninsula and the characterful city of Buenos Aires on this ultimate safari across Argentina. Visit relaxed Bariloche and enjoy chocolatier workshops and a day hike and spend time on a traditional Argentinian ranch.

What to expect

Arrive into Buenos Aires and be transferred to the airport for your flight to Posadas, the gateway to Parque Nacional Ibera. This is a wetland habitat and there may be sightings of wildlife, such as caimans and, if you're lucky you may even spot a jaguar. Bird lovers will also find this area abundant with over 300 different species, including some that are endangered, such as black and white monjita and yellow cardinal.

Be transferred to Puerto Iguazu about 5 hours away, travelling through the Urugua-I Provincial Park and rural areas with yerba mate plantations as well as through small towns and forests. Spend your days exploring the private Yacutinga Nature Reserve located in the Argentine jungle. Hike along the San Francisco River and enjoy a peaceful float through quiet, safe waters - this stretch of the river is known as the "Forest Gallery" and is a great chance for camera enthusiasts to get snap happy! Wild fauna tracks are common along the muddy shoreline; take a look, hone your tracking skills, and learn to decipher what happened a few hours ago at the riverbank.

Enjoy a guided 5 to 7 hour excursion of the famous Iguassu Falls and observe the grandeur of the falls from viewing platforms while looking out for wildlife at the same time.

Visit the Valdes Peninsula, leaving Puerto Madryn early to drive north through the flat grey expanse of Patagonian steppes where you might see an occasional rhea, guanaco or small deer. The herds of southern right whales tend to arrive from June to mid December and they frequent the bay of Puerto Piramides, their dark shapes arcing through the waves clearly visible from the shore, often blowing fountains of water into the sky.

Head to Punta Tombo to visit the largest Magellan Penguin reserve in the area and visit the nearby museum of Palaeontology.

Transfer back to Trelew airport for your included flight onwards to El Calafate via Buenos Aires. You will be treated to the incredible sight of the towering 60m high walls of the Perito Morento glacier. This excursion takes you on a cruise across Lake Rico, reaching the Iceberg Channel. Transfer to Puerto Banderas to board a catamaran for your day on Lake Argentino.

Catch an onward flight to Bariloche, Argentina's very own Swiss-style resort, stunningly set around the shores of Lake Nahuel Huap. At the foot of López Bay, this is a splendid walk to reach the impressive Tristeza Branch view Point, where you’ll marvel at the breathtaking vistas of Nahuel Huapi Lake, Mount Tronador & Victoria Island.

Explore the best trails of Nahuel Huapi National Park, you’ll explore valleys, ridges, lagoons and take in the views of the national park.

Fly back to Buenos Aires where you will be given a guided tour of Argentina's beautiful capital city. Marvel at the vibrantly coloured clapper-board houses at La Boca, the district where the original immigrants first settled.
