Discover the highlights of Argentina on this immersive 19 day safari, taking you from the spectacular Iguassu Falls in the north to the Patagonian wilderness in the south, encountering some incredible wildlife along the way. Starting in the wetlands of Esteros del Ibera, seek out caiman, capybara and abundant birdlife as you cruise down the Parana River, before heading to Iguassu for breathtaking views of the waterfalls from the Argentinian and Brazilian sides. From here, venture deep into the Argentine jungle to the wildlife-rich Yacutinga Nature Reserve, before flying south to the Valdes Peninsula, home to the largest penguin colony in the Americas. You will also get to witness the Perito Moreno Glacier and experience the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, while staying in the bohemian district of Palermo Soho.
Upon arrival into Buenos Aires you will transfer to your onward flight to Puerto Valle, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax and settle in to your hotel following your flight.
Spend your days exploring the lakes, wetlands and native forests of the Mesopotamia area and the Parana River. The Ibera Natural Reserve is home to caiman, capybara and marshland deer, as well as numerous other native species. You will have the opportunity to visit the caiman farm and tree nursery, and go boating along the Parana River - a great way to observe the local wildlife. In the evening, enjoy a traditional regional meal at your hotel and sit and watch the sunset from the veranda.
Take a stroll around the site and learn a little about the history of the Jesuit Missionaries. After your visit, continue on south, through the city of Posadas and in to the Esteros del Ibera beyond. Arrive at your ranch-style lodge located on the edge of the Esteros del Ibera, where you will enjoy dinner from the kitchen, which serves organic fruits and vegetables from the garden on the lodge grounds, as well as free range meat.

Join your expert guide this morning for an excursion into the Iguassu Falls National Park. Venture to Garganta del Diablo (The Devil's Throat), the largest and most spectacular cascade, and feel the full force of the falls as they thunder around you. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish; take a boat trip to the base of the falls or head down the safari trails of the sub-tropical rainforest, looking out for wildlife such as coati, hummingbirds ad toucans.

This morning you will travel to the Brazilian side of the Iguassu Falls, which offers more panoramic views over the waterfalls. Enjoy a guided tour of the area, with an estimated 275 different waterfalls dotted around the tropical forests. You will also have the option to take a spectacular helicopter flight over the falls, giving you a greater perspective on their sheer size and scale.

Back in the centre we will show you the President's Palace, The Congress Building and one of the finest examples of architecture in the city, the Colon Theatre, all of which exude grandeur. The afternoon is yours to spend at leisure, perhaps strolling through the quirky antique district of San Telmo, before being taken to Esquina Carlos Gardel in the evening for a live tango show that is sure to impress. Situated on the very corner where Carlos Gardel would dance tango with his friends and contemporaries, this is one of the most authentic tango shows in Buenos Aires.

Argentina's barbecues are famous worldwide, and here you will enjoy a typical Argentinian lunch including empanadas (meat-filled pastries), followed by a traditional asado (Argentinian barbecue). After learning more about the barbecue methods and sampling the mouthwatering produce in gaucho style, you’ll return to Buenos Aires, where the rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure.

Today you will transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Trelew, where you will be met and driven to your hotel. Puerto Madryn is situated at the entrance to the Ameghino Isthmus, a narrow natural bridge which connects the mainland to the Valdes Peninsula, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to marine wildlife such as whales, penguins and seals.

Head out on a whale watching cruise off the peninsula, looking out for orcas, humpback and southern right whales on their migration south to Antarctica. The resident pod of orcas is renowned for its ability to slide up the beaches of the Valdes shores to hunt for basking seals during the mating season (August - September).

Visit the penguins of the Punta Tombo wildlife reserve, home to a 500,000 strong colony of Magellan penguins, the largest penguin colony in South America. You will be able to walk amongst the penguins in their native habitat, observing penguin couples guarding their nests, incubating eggs and diving into the sea in search of food.

Located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Los Glaciares National Park, covering an area of 250km² and reaching a height of over 60m, Perito Moreno is one of the most impressive glaciers in the world. Enjoy incredible views from the many walkways and the Bajo Las Sombars Pier, the closest point to the glacier's southern wall.
Depart El Calafate this morning and transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. Check into your hotel and spend the evening at leisure.
