Hike in the Ngorongoro highlands while staying in luxurious domed suites, looking out over the Olmoti volcano; walk the plains of the Serengeti in search of the big five; and relax on the shores of Lake Victoria on the extraordinary Rubondo Island, home to chimpanzees, elephants and vibrant birdlife.

Day 1

Arrive Arusha

On arrival into Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your lodge where you can relax and prepare for your upcoming safari.

Day 2

Arusha - Ngorongoro Highlands

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Manyara. Upon arrival you will be met and driven to your camp in the Ngorongoro highlands, stopping to admire the spectacular views of the volcanoes that make up the landscape. After lunch, you will go on a gentle hike up to the Olmoti crater, following the ancient Maasai trails through mountain forests, grasslands and rocky outcrops.

Days 3-4

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

The next few days will be spent exploring the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Head out on a game drive into the Ngorongoro Crater, looking out for the big five and the other wildlife that roams the crater floor. You will also be taken on a guided walking safari to the lesser-known Empakaai Crater, looking out for zebra, buffalo and elephant as you make your descent into the crater. The lake at the centre of the crater offers superb birding opportunities and at certain times of year attracts thousands of flamingos, forming a salmon pink band around the lakeshore.

Day 5

Ngorongoro - Serengeti

This morning you will be transferred to Manyara airstrip for your flight into the Serengeti National Park. Enjoy a scenic drive through the rolling Serengeti plains to your camp. In the afternoon, you will be taken on a game drive in the park before stopping for sundowners and a three course meal back at camp.

Day 6

Serengeti National Park

Today you will embark on a walking safari in this exclusive, peaceful corner of the national park. Return to camp for a midday siesta before heading out for your final exploration of the park, on foot or by vehicle.

Day 7

Serengeti - Rubondo Island

After a relaxed morning, catch your flight to Rubondo Island. The largest island national park in Africa, Rubondo Island is located in the southwest corner of Lake Victoria, and is an important conservation centre for chimpanzees, elephants and other endangered species. Spend the afternoon relaxing in a hammock overlooking the lake or stroll along the beach, looking out for some of the colourful bird species of the island.

Days 8-9

Rubondo Island

Spend the next few days relaxing and exploring the unique ecosystem of the island; go on a hike through pristine and unexplored rainforest searching for the chimpanzees and other wildlife, or spend your day drifting lazily on Lake Victoria in a canoe or boat. In the evenings, enjoy dinner at the camp as you swap stories about your adventures and watch hippos emerging from the waters to graze.

Day 10

Depart Rubondo Island

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to Arusha, in time for your international flight home.
