Day by day

Day 1

Arrive Cape Town

Upon arrival you will be met at Cape Town International Airport and transferred to your hotel in the V&A Waterfront. This is the perfect base to explore all the sights and sounds that this magnificent city has to offer.

Overnight: Ellerman House

Days 2-3

Cape Town

Take these days to explore Cape Town and enjoy all that it has to offer. Highlights include the cable car up Table Mountain, a visit to Robben Island, driving the coastal road through Camps Bay, Chapman’s Peak, Hout Bay, the Cape Peninsular and Boulders Beach penguin colony. The V&A Waterfront is also a lively place to explore with loads of restaurants, cafes, shops, markets, the 2 Oceans Aquarium and outdoor performances. If you would prefer you can arrange group or privately guided excursions to the main areas around Cape Town.

Overnight: Ellerman House (B)

Day 4

Cape Town - Tswalu

Today you will leave the coast and head inland to the stunning Tswalu private game reserve where you will spend the next few days on safari, getting an in-depth view of the natural world in this part of South Africa.

Overnight: Tswalu Kalahari (B, L, D)

Days 5-7

Tswalu

You will have three full days with your private guide to explore the reserve. There is so much to do here aside from the ‘normal’ game drives. Here you can also enjoy traditional Kalahari donkey cart rides, horse riding, walking safaris, sleep-outs under the stars, hot-air balloon rides (at an extra supplement and booked in advance) and rhino tracking on foot! If you want to, get involved in the conservation of the endangered black rhino, Tswalu offers guests the opportunity to help the local vet with darting and tagging operations. This does need to be booked in advance and there is a supplement for this, which goes towards rhino conservation in South Africa. In addition to two resident families of habituated meerkats, cheetah, antelope, aardvark, pangolin, jackal and Hartsmann zebra, you have one third of South Africa’s entire remaining population of desert black rhino in this stunning reserve. The Kalahari Desert is also home to a population of rare black-maned lions, which make for striking sightings should you come across these regal big cats. Should you want to spend a night out under the stars then this can also be arranged at no extra cost.

Overnight: Tswalu Kalahari (B, L, D)

Day 8

Depart Tswalu

Transfer back to the airport and fly either to Cape Town or Johannesburg for your onward journey.
