Days 1-3

Kwandwe Private Game Reserve

Your first three days in South Africa will be spent at one of South Africa’s largest privately owned Big Five reserves, Kwandwe. Meaning “place of the blue crane” in the Xhosa language, this 54,000-acre wilderness is a haven for this bird as well as a number of other endangered species, including cheetahs, black-spotted cats and black rhinoceros. You’ll be able to join specialist guides and enjoy activities like fly-in safaris, walking safaris, game drives, birding excursions and fishing in the Great Fish River. Situated in the malaria-free Eastern Cape, this is an ideal destination for families and wildlife-lovers alike. Kwandwe’s focus on conservation and community engagement has given back to both the animals and people who live in this area, and with just five lodges and villas found within the sprawling reserve, it also boasts one of the highest land-to-guest ratios of any South African reserve.

Days 4-6

Franschhoek

After a trio of action-packed days in the Eastern Cape, fly over to the west coast and the La Clé des Montagnes estate to relax in the lap of luxury, just an hour’s drive from Cape Town. Each one of the four private villas also comes with a private pool, garden and butler to ensure you’re not wanting for anything during your stay. Sample renowned local wines and award-winning cuisine before soaking in the culture of the village of Franschhoek, just a few minutes’ stroll away. During this time you can also choose to partake in a complementary day of adventure, climbing into your own private vehicle alongside a specialist guide who will be there to show you the sights and sounds of the Western Cape. Included with the experience are stand-up paddleboards, hiking packs, safety gear, gourmet snacks and beverages, and a travelling toy box for the little ones.
