A contemporary and stylish hotel combining antique details with contemporary decor, designed by Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa.
Set within a tropical garden at the end of Mawella beach, a short distance from the historic town and white sandy beaches of Tangalle.
Accommodation & Facilities
There are six bedrooms and one three-bedroom suite available, each individually designed and decorated with comfortable modern and antique furnishings. Each bedroom enjoys views over the ocean or lagoon and has an en suite bathroom attached. The Cinnamon Hill Suite consists of a large double bedroom and two twin rooms, all overlooking the beach and garden and with their own private bathroom, a lounge area and balcony. The hotel also features a large, central swimming pool in the gardens.
Traditional Sri Lankan and Asian fusion dishes are served in the open air dining room or under the stars on Mawella beach. Guests staying in the Cinnamon Hill Suite can also enjoy a private dinner on their balcony overlooking the ocean.
Its close proximity to Mawella and other beaches of the south coast makes The Last House ideally situated for water activities, including surfing, boarding, swimming, snorkelling, and fishing, with a selection of boards and sports equipment available at the hotel. The area is also great for wildlife viewing, such as dolphin and whale watching excursions, or a visit to the nearby turtle sanctuary. The popular fishing town of Tangalle is also a short drive away.
Children of all ages welcome.
