Leopard Trails Camp details
Style
A luxury permanent camp within Wilpattu National Park.
Setting
Wilpattu National Park is known as the oldest National Park in Sri Lanka, and is also one of the largest at 130,000 hectares of land. The park has many natural lakes throughout called ‘Villus’. The Villus collect rain water and attract the wildlife as waterholes, especially during draughts.
ACCOMMODATION & Facilities
There are both luxury and classic mobile tented camps at Leopard Trails; 1 luxury and 3 classic, and all are air-conditioned to ensure you stay cool, even throughout the warmest months. Both types of tent contain a queen size bed and full en-suite facilities, including a flushable toilet and toiletries.
The classic mobile tented camps are 300 square ft including a veranda to relax on whilst waiting for your next game drive, or even after a long day of wildlife viewing. The bathroom has a flushable toilet and a sink, whilst the shower is a private outdoor bucket shower (the water can be heated) – a true wilderness experience!
The luxury tents span over 700 square ft including a veranda lounging area where you and your family or group of friends can gather to discuss the day’s activities and experiences! The bathroom is fully equipped with a flushable toilet, dual sinks and a shower with hot and cold water.
Dining
Leopard Trails prides themselves on their home grown and locally sourced produce used in every delicious meal. The western and Sri Lankan cuisine is prepared with fresh vegetables, meat and fish, all served outdoors around the campfire, or under shelter if the weather does not allow for a starlit meal.
Activities
There are two game drives per day at Leopard Trails and each promise an unforgettable wildlife adventure. The vehicles used are Toyota Hilux and Land Cruiser, both allowing for 360o views of the scenery surrounding you whilst you drive in search of the incredible wildlife that lives in Wilpattu National Park. The rangers know of a habituated leopard living in the National Park, which means the viewing opportunities are heightened.
