Elephant Stables is set upon a quiet hill just 15 minutes from Kandy, with the Knuckles Mountain Range as its backdrop.

There are just 7 luxurious air conditioned rooms and suites set within the Elephant Stables; including a sumptuous tent suite and a peaceful garden cottage. The interiors are a blend of classic Sri Lankan design with a hint of contemporary elements. The character-filled rooms and suites here boast four-poster double beds, personal safe, seating area and tasteful wooden furnishings. Rooms have private balconies with views over the manicured gardens and some have views of the Knuckles Mountains. All rooms and suites have Wi-Fi and televisions.
There is a large ‘Royal Luxury Tented Suite’ which is ideal for families. The interior is divided up by curtains, providing guests with lounge areas, two separate bedrooms – both with four poster beds – and a luxurious bathroom with polished cement walls. The tent is also fully air-conditioned so you can reside in ultimate comfort throughout your stay here. In addition, there is a Garden Cottage suite set within the property gardens which is also ideal for families with children.
Facilities at the hotel include a dining room, lounge with a fireplace where guests can relax in the evenings, swimming pool, reading room, well-kept gardens with mango trees and a juice bar.
Dining
There is superb on-site dining at Elephant Stables. Chefs cook a variety of Western and Sri Lankan cuisine. You can opt for a full English breakfast, light lunch dishes such as pasta or salad and choose between two set menus at dinner time. There is a children’s menu and if you desire afternoon tea the hotel will be happy to arrange this for you.

Elephant Stables is set just 15 minutes from Kandy, and so is the perfect base from which to explore this historical, culture-rich city. Options for your time in Kandy include visiting the Temple of the Tooth, Peradeniya Botanical Gardens or Kandy Lake. For those desiring a little nature, you can go on walks or birding trails in Udawatte Kelle Forest Reserve. Alternatively, you may opt to stay at the hotel and relax in the beautiful gardens under the mango trees, take a dip in the pool or read a good book next to the fire in the lounge.
