Nestled in the heart of Kandy, the Cinnamon Citadel Kandy Hotel is surrounded by beautiful sweeping green hills and on the bank of Sri Lanka's longest river, the Mahaweli.

Accommodation & Facilities

The hotel offers 121 guest rooms, consisting of 97 superior rooms and 24 deluxe rooms and suites. All rooms are air-conditioned and include a television, mini bar, in-room safe and telephone, glass shower cubicle, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary toiletries, as well as hair dryers. Deluxe rooms have a few extras such as DVD players, a sitting area and bathrobes/slippers; they are also adorned with hand-woven artwork and ornate doors.

Facilities at Cinnamon Citadel Hotel include a stunning swimming pool and sun terrace, overlooking the Mahaweli. Entertainment includes billiards, snooker and table tennis. Live music is also available.


There are 2 in house restaurants; Vel Eliya a vibrant restaurant with large glass windows and unobstructed views of the Mahaweli River, Vel Eliya serves food buffet style at meal times. Mahaweli Eliya is a fine dining restaurant serving authentic Kandyan cuisine; it has split level seating and a bar. There is also a Lounge bar serving exotic cocktails (and mocktails) as well as delicious juices throughout the day, overlooking the pool and the river. The pool bar is great for special themed evenings or groups wanting to dine outside.


There are trips to explore ancient trails, scenic treks up The Knuckles mountain range – 3,800 feet above sea level or join a golf trip in the sun. Guests can also take a relaxing boat trip along the Mahaweli River.
