Setting

Cape Weligama is situated just outside of Weligama, which is a small fishing village on the south coast of Sri Lanka, and is a short drive from Galle. It can be reached easily from Colomobo’s Bandaranaike airport via Air Taxi, or a 2 and a half hour road transfer.

Accommodation and Facilities

The resort, situated upon Weligama’s breath-taking headland, offers 39 opulent villas and suites which work together to give the impression of a Sri Lankan village. All the suites at Cape Weligama are very spacious with contemporary, stylish décor; the larger private villas are ideal for families, with some nestled around the children’s pool. All of the suites and villas have a private butler service and are lavished with elegant furnishings; the resort aims to provide the highest quality luxury experience for every guest, beginning with its beautiful accommodation.

Facilities at the Cape Weligama include several swimming pools – take a dip and absorb the breath-taking sea views in the crescent shaped Moon Pool which curves along the cape’s summit. There are three fantastic restaurants which offer a variety of different fine cuisine, two with menus designed for children. You can enjoy a scrumptious afternoon tea at the Living Pavillion, explore the private gym or relax and indulge in some private spa treatments in the privacy of your own room. There is also free Wi-Fi available for those who wish to use it during their stay.

Dining

Cape Waligama has three top-class restaurants to choose from. Opt for the De Mauny restaurant for stunning views over Weligama’s coastline whilst you dine on exquisite international fusion cuisine. You may choose to dine cliff-side at the Japenese Misaki restaurant, and sample the delights of authentic teppanyaki. Alternatively, head down to the Cove Pool to enjoy some unique Sri Lankan alfresco dining at Kumbuk. The Taylor Living Pavillion serves a delicious Ceylon Afternoon Cream Tea as well as snacks throughout the day; guests are not short on eating options at the Cape Waligama Resort! The resort has a fantastic wine menu to accompany every meal, with cocktails also available. 

Activities

There is plenty to do to entertain yourself at Cape Weligama; whether you wish to relax, explore, get your culture fix or take part in more action-packed activities, there is no shortage of things to fulfil your desires here. Cape Weligama’s magnificent coastline location makes it ideal for water sports; you can go kayaking on Koggala Lake, snorkelling off one of the East or West beaches, or try your hand at surfing – Weligama’s wide sandy bay is ideal for this! There is also a diving centre with PADI diving courses for guests to try out if they wish. A superb evening can be had enjoying one of the sunset cruises, and for wildlife lovers there is dolphin and whale spotting. Fishing, swimming or simply pampering yourself with spa treatments are more activities on offer for you to enjoy.

During your visit you can also explore the nearby sights of Southern Sri Lanka, such as the enchanting Galle Fort, Dondra’s slim white Lighthouse or Mirissa’s beautiful harbour, all of which are within driving distance of the resort. Or, you can simply lay back with a book next to one of the swimming pools, or take a gentle stroll down one of the stone paths to the sandy coves below.

Child Policy

Children are welcome at Cape Weligama. There are a wide range or facilities and activities aimed at younger guests, including safe beaches for them to explore, a shallow swimming pool, snorkelling and various watersports. There are kids’ menus at two of the restaurants and babysitters are also available if required.
