Style

Windermere is a simple plantation house, with striking surroundings.  A perfect location to explore this area of Kerala.

Setting

Windermere Estate is set in Munnar, Southern India, and is located around 3 hours from Cochin and makes a great stop on a Kerala Safari Itinerary. The Cardamom estate at Windermere spans over 55 acres, allowing for peaceful walks, relaxing surroundings and the chance for bird watching through the tall trees.

Accommodation & Facilities

The rooms at Windermere Estate have a warm vintage feel and the high ceilings, beautiful wood furniture, crochet art framed around the room create a welcoming feel, like a home away from home. All rooms come with a spectacular view of the surrounding gardens and valleys and there are large verandas and balconies for guests to sit out and relax.  Facilities include a library and lounge area and there are elevated platforms around the estate creating a perfect setting for stargazing.

Dining

Meals are served in one of two dining areas; the open barn which looks out onto the hills and the hut which provides a native appeal and offers a true safari-feel. The menus are Anglo-Indian in style and all meals are home-cooked from delicious family recipes. The fruit and vegetables are all home grown, and if you really want to, there is a lovely traditional full English breakfast on the menu to enjoy!

Activities

There are plenty of walking routes to take around the hotel and beyond due to the location.  Guided walks of tea and spice estates can be arranged locally for an additional cost. Locally, you can enjoy the Eravikulam National Park in search of birdlife, the Thoovanam waterfall or, for something a little different, the Tea Museum in Munnar. The vast Rajiv Gandhi National Park is nearby and boasts a healthy population of Indian bison, tiger and elephant.
