about the serai jaisalmer, rajasthan

Set deep in the Thar Desert, the Serai Jaisalmer is an opulent tented desert camp ideal for honeymooners and those wishing to explore the desert in style. Set on a hundred acre private estate, the Serai is a true desert oasis with just 21 elegant tents, some with their own private plunge pool. The camp is located just outside the ancient city of Jaisalmer, famous for its golden fortress, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.

Style

Desert camp doesn’t do the Serai justice. This is an astonishing property, with its décor influenced by the royal caravan sites of Rajputana, and with all the amenities you would expect in a luxury hotel.

Setting

The Serai is set on a hundred acre estate of indigenous desert scrub in the Great Thar Desert, about an hour outside of Jaisalmer.

Accommodation & Facilities

The 14 tented suites have an exterior veranda, living room, spacious bedroom and a large en-suite bathroom. 6 luxury tented suites additionally have a private walled garden with a sunken plunge pool, while the royal suite also houses a private spa, dining and lounge tents and a personal butler. The walled garden spa offers a wide array of massages.  You can also laze by the pool, designed to resemble a traditional Indian stepwell; the ideal spot to kick back with a sundowner after a day spent exploring the desert.

Dining

The main dining tent serves sumptuous local delicacies, as well as western dishes, using home grown organic produce. The camps philosophy is to encourage you to choose when and where you would like to eat, and staff will happily set up a romantic table for you behind a dune under the stars if that is your preference. Guests can also choose from a range of wines and spirits whilst sinking into the leather chairs at the camp’s Library Bar.

Activities

The Serai offers guests complimentary desert walks. Activities at an additional cost include village safaris, camel rides, and desert picnics. From the camo you can easily visit Jaisalmer and its famous golden fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the largest in the world and home to the Royal Palace and several Jain temples.
