Style

This hilltop retreat is a mix of romantic outdoor tents and luxury rooms serving up a unique opportunity to live inside a 350 year-old Rajasthan fort. The middle of nowhere setting suits everyone from honeymooners to bird watchers.

Setting

Located in rural Rajasthan, a spectacular hill fort overlooking rural countryside, Ramathra Fort is 80 kilometres from Ranthambore National Park and nearby to Bharatpur.

Accommodation & Facilities

Ramathra Fort offers 6 tents, 4 rooms and 2 suites. Each room features an elegant sitting area with a fireplace, custom furnishings and hand-woven rugs. The use of Karauli stone and traditional construction upholds an authentic stay while not compromising on luxury and comfort.  A private terrace affords spectacular views of the landscape and its magnificent sunsets for the two suites.  The 6 luxury tents feature private sit outs and en-suite facilities along with traditional furnishings.  There are no TV’s in the tents, so you can get away from everything!

Dining

The food at Ramathra is delicious. Food is prepared in the family kitchen using fresh local seasonal produce. There is one dining room, but quite often meals are taken al fresco at various locations around the fort, and the ramparts are a suitably impressive location for a pre-dinner cocktail.

Activities

Ramathra Fort has an abundance of activities on offer. Take a jeep safari to explore the region’s rich cultural heritage, including cave temples and forts on the edge of the Chambal River Valley.  You can borrow a bicycle and enjoy a gentle cycle ride or stroll through nearby Ramathra village, a tiny farming community with painted houses. You can also enjoy a thrilling night safari to Kaila Devi National Park, where you might see deer, wolves, hyenas, bears and leopards. Closer to the Fort, Kalisil Lake is a magical place at sunrise or sunset, and a wonderful place for a spot of bird watching.
