A 20 minute drive from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the resort is on the coast with its own private beach. There are regular boats from here to escort guests to the stunning coral islands within Tanjung Aru Marine Park for a spot of snorkelling.

Accommodation & Facilities

Rooms are split between two wings, ‘Kinabalu’ and ‘Tanjung’. They are all spacious, luxuriously decorated and with all the amenities you would expect from a Shangri-La property. Ranging from standard rooms to presidential suites, you will find everything from en-suite, glass-walled bathrooms with fluffy towels, to wrap around balconies, sundecks and private Jacuzzi’s. All accommodation has complimentary broadband, in-house movie channels, a pillow menu, premium toiletries and spacious en-suite bathrooms. As you can image, the higher standard you go for, the more you get.

The lagoon style swimming pool is huge and a great respite from the heat or you can enjoy a large menu in the spa and health club, from Pilates to personal training. There is also table tennis, tennis, pitch & putt, kids club and a water play area. The resort also has its very own stretch of the South China Sea, a beautiful section of beach for relaxing.

There is a range of restaurants to choose from, from the bar and grill to Shang Palace, renowned for its Chinese cuisine. Sunset Bar is located overlooking the ocean or you can head to Cool Box Ice Cream Bar to satisfy your sweet tooth.


Cuisine is renowned for being delicious and there is a variety of spots to choose from within the resort, depending on what you fancy, from Italian and Chinese, to buffets and Asian gourmet specials.


Regular boats to the coral islands make it a great place to stay if you enjoy snorkelling or diving. Other water sports can be done, with banana boat rides, jet skiing and parasailing. Or you can stay in the resort and make the most of their daily activities which include Tai Chi, Bird Watching, Yoga, tours of the landscaped gardens, aqua lessons…the list goes on!

Child Policy

Children welcome. There are a number of child friendly activities and a Kids Club. Enjoy the theme park style water play area, enjoy a themed party with face painting and coconut bowling or perhaps try some hat making. Activities are on from 10am to 6pm. Outside of these hours, a babysitting service is available for over 4's. Connecting rooms are available for parents with children as well as extra beds so families can share one room. An ideal place to stay to relax for a few days on any family holiday.
