Zimbabwe In October

October brings warm temperatures and some rainfall but as it is the end of the dry season wildlife sightings are good thanks to the sparse vegetation.

October weather and when to go

October is the final month of the peak dry period and can be seen as a shoulder season thanks to the arrival of the short rains being difficult to predict. It is likely the beginning of the month will remain dry and therefore Zimbabwe's wildlife will still be congregating around waterholes. When the rains do arrive they will bring some much-needed relief from the warm temperatures of October.

As the peak season is coming to an end, prices will start to decrease and lodge availability will begin to free up. Please double check availability and prices with your destination specialist so you can plan the best trip for your travel dates.

Depending on the arrival of the rains, Victoria Falls may be just a small flow by this time of year. There is one major benefit of these low water levels though, and that is you will be able to climb into the Devil’s Pool on the edge of Victoria Falls and look over the side! This is a great activity for those looking for something a little more adventurous.
