August weather and when to go

August weather and when to go

August lies in the heart of the dry season with little to no rain throughout the whole month. This makes it a perfect time to travel to Zimbabwe as the majority of wildlife will gather round the lingering waterholes meaning you’ll get a range of sightings in just one spot. Another benefit of travelling later in the dry season is that temperatures will start to warm up again. Daytime temperatures average around 25-28 degrees making it ideal for relaxing round the pool between game drives.

Zimbabwe Victoria Falls

Days begin to lengthen in August allowing you to squeeze those extra few minutes out of your time on safari. With days being dry there are fewer mosquitoes too which is always a bonus.

The majority of parks are good at this time, including Victoria Falls. The flow won’t be at its most powerful in August which means images won’t be ruined by the spray and you’ll be able to get great panoramic shots of the whole area.

As August is part of the peak season prices may be higher and availability lower so speak to our destination specialists early to plan your perfect Zimbabwe safari
