Tanzania Weather in October

Tanzania Weather in October

Temperatures rise again slightly in October making mornings and nights more comfortable. Tanzania is coming into spring throughout the month making it a lovely time to visit. Lake Tanganyika is at its warmest at this time of year and with Mahale still being fully accessible it is a great time to see the chimpanzees and get to know BigBird the pelican at Greystoke Mahale. The chart below shows the averages for the Serengeti throughout the month and the comparative average rainfall in Zanzibar. Although average rainfall has begun to rise in comparison to the earlier months of the dry season, it is still not up to the significant levels of November and December.

Chimpanzee, Tanzania

Before the rainy season begins in Kavati in November make the most of the dried up landscapes and seasonal lakes and rivers. Most of the game will gather near to the Katuma River meaning you have the chance to see a selection of wildlife in a small location. This national park also offers spectacular elephant viewing in the open plains where large groups gather creating a fascinating atmosphere.

October is the best time to visit Arusha National Park and if you want to, climb Mount Meru. Although wildlife viewing is not as highly regarded here as it is in other parks, you may still have the chance to see leopards and hyenas at dusk and dawn!
