About Siwandu, Selous

Siwandu (formerly Selous Safari Camp) offers a wild and intimate experience; set in a land criss-crossed by a multitude of dry river beds and surrounded by dense riverine vegetation.

Lodge Details

Style

A classic luxury tented camp in one of Africa’s least known, but wildest conservation areas.

Setting

Set back cosily in the sheltered Palm Forest Grove, on the shores of Lake Nserakera - an enormous lake adjoining the Rufiji River - Siwandu is located in one of the most photogenic regions of the Selous Game Reserve and blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings. There are no fences or artificial modifications through out the camp and with over half of Tanzania’s elephant population there are often visitors through out your stay!

Accommodation & Facilities

Siwandu is comprised of two separate camps, North and South, saving you from feeling at all over crowded. North camp is comprised of 6 tents and South with 7, each has their own pool and facilities so there is no need to cross between the two. The spacious tents are all luxuriously equipped with their own en-suites including open air hot showers, king sized beds and ceiling fans, providing the perfect place to relax after a day out in the wild.

Dining

The kitchen is well supplied with African influenced fine cuisine, made from local fresh fruits, vegetables and spices, with a good wine selection.

Activities

Game Drives, Boat Safaris (great for birding, hippos and crocs) and walking safaris, focusing on the little things that you might miss whilst on a drive. There is also fly camping available for the more adventurous or those who would like some time ‘roughing it’ and fishing – subject to conditions. This is a great camp from which to be based to maximise chances of seeing the endangered wild dogs in the wild.
