Lodge Details
Style
A historic Cape Dutch farmhouse that has been renovated to combine traditional elements with contemporary décor.
Setting
The hotel is surrounded by 8 acres of farmland and vineyards in the heart of the winelands, close to the town of Paarl and a short drive from both Franschhoek and Stellenbosch.
Accommodation & Facilities
13 traditional Cape Dutch farm cottages line the avenue leading to the restaurant, comprising six one bedroom suites, three one bedroom cottages and four two bedroom cottages. Cottages are traditional in appearance, with whitewashed walls, thatched roofs and wooden gables, but the interiors are modern and minimalist in design. The renovated farmhouse contains nine suites, including a honeymoon loft suite, as well as a private spa and swimming pool.
Dining
There are two restaurants at Babylonstoren, Babel and Greenhouse, as well as a bakery. The farm has a ‘farm-to-fork’ philosophy, using seasonal ingredients which are almost all grown on the farm itself. Babel is located in a former cow shed and is very popular, often requiring booking far in advance, and the Greenhouse is in a vintage conservatory. The farm also has a wine cellar and tasting room where guests can sample the farms own selection of wines.
Activities
There are plenty of opportunities to explore this authentic working farm, from guided vineyard and garden walks, harvesting with the farmers and wine tasting sessions. Guests can also go canoeing on the farms dam or hiking up the Babylonstoren koppie, or simply relax in the hotel spa. Other activities in the area include horse riding, golf and hot air ballooning.
Child Policy
Children welcome.
