Ngare Serian

An Intimate Riverside Camp in the Masai Mara

Set directly on the banks of the Mara River, Ngare Serian is a peaceful and highly intimate safari camp within the private Mara North Conservancy. Its name means “by the river” in the Masai language, reflecting a setting shaped by flowing water, lush vegetation and the wildlife that gathers along the riverbanks.

Reached on foot across a narrow rope bridge, the camp feels wonderfully secluded from the moment you arrive. With just four spacious tents, private guiding and a relaxed, homely atmosphere, Ngare Serian is particularly well suited to families, friends and small groups seeking a personalised Mara safari.

Dining

Dining at Ngare Serian is informal, hosted and sociable. Meals are shared en famille in the cosy dining room or served outdoors on the lawn beside the Mara River.

Evenings revolve around good food, conversation, and the retelling of the day’s sightings, creating the warm atmosphere of a private home in the bush rather than a conventional safari lodge.

Mike Dexter Mara Photography Workshop

Ngare Serian feels more like a private home than a traditional safari camp. With only four tents, exclusive guiding and a secluded riverside location, every stay is personal and unhurried. The sound of the Mara River provides a constant backdrop, while hippos, birds and other wildlife bring the surrounding landscape to life. We particularly love the outdoor bathtubs overlooking the water, the absence of Wi-Fi and the option to spend a night in The Nest treehouse for an even deeper immersion in the wilderness.
