About Kwando Lagoon Camp

Kwando Lagoon Camp is set on the shady banks of the Kwando River and consists of eight luxury safari tents. Lagoon Camp provides access to some excellent game viewing and is one of the best areas to see lion, cheetah, leopard and wild dogs.

Kwando Lagoon is a beautifully located lodge, overlooking the Mudumu National Park from beneath a grove of Ebony and Marula trees on the banks of the Kwando River. This prime location offers fantastic birding as well as a vast concentration of game, especially larger mammals such as elephant and buffalo. This in turn attracts lots of large predators.

The camp itself is beautiful, with stunning views over the Linyanti Wetlands which offer a variety of habitats to explore, from vast open plains to mopane forest.

Style

A small and relaxed luxury tented camp with safari style tents.

Setting

Kwando Lagoon Camp lies on the shady banks of northern Botswana’s Kwando River, within sight of a resident hippo pod in the 232,000ha private Kwando Concession.

Accommodation & Facilities

With a laid back ambience, this fantastic camp is made up of eight luxury safari-style thatched tents, set on raised platforms on the banks of a Kwando River lagoon. Each twin-bedded tent has a spacious bedroom area with a private deck and views across the lagoon.  The bathrooms have an open shower, double wash basin and toilet and have spectacular panoramic views, even from the bath tub. A family room is also available, which comes with an extra bedroom and shared bathroom.

The main area has a very relaxed feel and includes a small library and a shady deck overlooking the water, equipped with tables and chairs for guests to while away the afternoons. The open thatched restaurant includes a well stocked bar.

Kwando Lagoon Camp also features a refreshing plunge pool with views over the lagoon, lounge, curio shop and dining room.

Dining

Food served at Kwando Lagoon Camp is excellent and includes breakfast before your first game drive, brunch, a buffet lunch and a very substantial dinner – usually consisting of three courses. Excellent group meals are served in the camp’s communal dining area, with after-dinner coffee and night caps taken beside the campfire.

Activities

Kwando Lagoon Camp takes a relaxed approach. There is no set times for drives to finish, and the opportunity to go off track means that game-viewing is often action-packed and exhilarating.

The lodge offers night and day game drives, so guests can watch the wildlife whilst watching the sun set. Vehicles have just 2 rows of vehicles so there are no problems hearing the guide or tracker that accompany you. Kwando Lagoon also runs a double decker boat, so there is the opportunity for some fantastic cruises and sundowners whilst watching the hippos wallow in the crystal waters. As well as this there is the option of nature walks and fishing (fly and spin) for African Pike, Tiger fish and the sharp tooth cat fish!

Child Policy

Children over the age of 6 are welcome at Kwando Lagoon Camp. If you wish to bring children under the age of 6, it is required to book the camp out. Those over the age of 18 are considered adults and are permitted to stay at the camp unaccompanied. Please bear in mind that the camp is open and there is a a deep water channel nearby, so children must be supervised at all times.
