Camp Details

Style

A semi-mobile camp with six tents constructed in the classic A-framed Meru style, with an additional kitchen and communal area, both of which are also under canvas. Lodgings are simple yet authentic, and with the wilderness right outside your front door, this is the quintessential African safari experience.

Setting

Zambezi Expeditions is situated on the Nkupi camping site, right next to the Zambezi River in Mana Pools National Park.

Accommodation & Facilities

Each tent here comes with a bucket shower and en-suite bathroom complete with complimentary toiletries, so you certainly won’t be roughing it out in the wilds despite your location close to nature. The tents can be configured with double beds or two single beds, while comfortable linens and African-inspired nightwear ensure a good night’s sleep. The camp is mainly solar-powered but also has a generator, and battery-charging facilities are available in the camp’s main tent, where a lounge and dining area (with plenty of refreshments) provides the perfect place to unwind after a day of safari activities.

Dining

Three delicious meals will be provided by the camp’s kitchen staff every day, served either under canvas or outdoors, with the currents of the Zambezi providing the perfect dining ambience. The communal dinners are usually a three-course affair.

Activities

The proximity to prime safari locations within Mana Pools National Park is what makes this camp so special. Canoeing and walking safaris are a key focus here, as hippos, crocodiles, elephants and an array of bird species are often seen from the shoreline. There is also ample opportunity for catch-and-release fishing here, with the fearsome tigerfish attracting anglers from far and wide. For all the animals that flock to the Zambezi, it would still be remiss not to embark on a 4x4 game drive away from the river, where expert guides can take you into the heart of this UNESCO World Heritage Site in search of the lion, leopard, eland, Cape buffalo, painted dog and a host of other wildlife.

Child Policy

Children over the age of 7 are welcome at Zambezi Expeditions Camp, although walking safaris and canoeing are restricted to guests aged 16 and up.
