Winterlake Lodge detail

Located almost 200 miles from the capital of Alaska, Anchorage reached via floatplane or ski plane (depending on the season).

Accommodation & Facilities

There are five cabins available at Winterlake Lodge all of which are individually named and decorated. Each lodge is built by hand from logs or split pine by the owners and their staff, each portraying a blend of rustic and modern elements and are decorated with the artifacts of life on the Alaskan frontier. With plenty of space for extra beds if needed, cabins can be reconfigured to fit up to four or six guests, containing a private bathroom, a queen-size bed, a shared living room, a porch, and stunning views.

Fireweed Cabin

This roomy cabin is perched at the east end of our dock, offering beautiful views of the lake and Trimble glacier. The cabin’s two bedrooms each have a private bathroom and a queen-size bed, and there’s enough room for additional beds to accommodate a family of four or five.

Red Lake Trail Cabin

Located on the west side of the lodge grounds, Red Lake Trail Cabin is one of the property’s original log cabins, renovated in 2010. It sleeps up to seven people in three bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, a sitting area, and a queen-size bed; and two of which accommodate extra single beds (if requested). The cabin’s sunset views are unforgettable

Iditarod Cabin

Built by the owners using peeled logs they cut themselves, this cabin features large picture windows and a small deck with a great view of the rising sun. The cabin offers a queen-size bed and one twin-bed in a loft area, as well as a spacious bathroom.

Mountain Pass Cabin

The closest to the main lodge, Mountain Pass Cabin offers a log queen-size log bed, a private roomy bathroom, a comfy open-style living room, and a deck.

Happy River Cabin

Happy River Cabin is situated along the hiking trail to Red Lake. Along with a log bed, a bathroom, and an open-style living room, the cabin offers stunning views of the lake.

The superb menu served to you at Winterlake Lodge has been awarded for its delicious Alaskan cuisine. All of your meals are included throughout your stay here and the dining times can be adjusted to your requirements; breakfast can be served at any time upon request. If you are spending the day away from the lodge lunch can be arranged by the glaciers, the ridge or the Happy River. In the evening dinner is preceded by a wine and cheese tasting with cheese flown in from Manhattan.

There is a huge range of activities for you to immerse yourself in during your stay at Winterlake Lodge. Within the grounds of the lodge itself there are yoga classes, a wellness program where you are able to treat yourself with luxurious massage treatments, cooking lessons and then you can relax in the hot tub. Travel a little further away from the lodge itself; there are helicopter assisted treks,  kayak down the Happy River or (for the brave) swim in a glacial pool.

Child Policy

Children are welcome at Winterlake Lodge, those which are under the age of 12 pay two thirds of the adult rate.
