Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge

Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is in a peaceful, picturesque corner of Alaska. Jump on board a ferry in the Alaskan port city of Seward and you'll soon find yourself at this exquisite lodge nestled at the mouth of Resurrection Bay. The eight charming cabins are set amongst the woods on the privately owned Fox Island, with beautiful views of the bay on one side and a freshwater lagoon on the other.

There are are no other lodges on the island, and the comfortable en-suite rooms have been purposefully designed without telephones, televisions, radios or electrical outlets. All this means you're free to unwind and enjoy the tranquil surroundings without unnecessary distraction. What's more, Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is powered mainly by solar energy and the property has been certified as an ecotourism destination by Adventure Green Alaska, making it an excellent choice for eco-conscious travell

The main lodge is a short walk away from the cabins and is open from 6am till midnight for the use of guests. The communal and dining areas are warm and cosy, with a woodstove and plenty of spots to curl up with a good book and a glass of wine. There is also a campfire where guests can share stories with each other in the evenings. The main lodge building has a charging station should you wish to charge any devices.The eight cabins are located south of the main lodge, spaced out upon a peninsula between the ocean and a freshwater lagoon. Four of the cabins are located in a single building, two facing the lagoon and two facing the ocean. The other cabins are duplexes with water views. Each cabin has a queen and a twin bed with private bath and shower facilities, as well as a battery-powered alarm clock. There are no electrical outlets in the cabins, so make the most of this and enjoy your digital detox!

Boat trips around Fox Island give guests the opportunity to really absorb this stunning landscape while watching for wildlife. The waterways here are home to lots of marine life, including the Steller's sea lion, humpback whale, Dall's porpoise and sea otter. Keep an eye on the skies for sightings of eagles, puffins, cormorants, murres and plenty more bird species – there are more than 190 species that pass through or live here full-time! Other activities include sea kayaking with a guide (an optional extra) and interpretive talks with a knowledgeable naturalist guide, who will teach you all about the flora and fauna of the area. Not all activities here need to guided and guests are free to hike the forest trails and comb the fantastic beaches.
