Dating back to the 1950’s, the Solar de la Plaza, was a neo-colonial Spanish style mansion in its early days. Now a luxury hotel, it has managed to keep all of its original features; tiled roofs, flower filled patios, internal gardens and large windows to welcome in the outside.

Setting

The hotel is just 4 blocks from the city’s main square and the business and banking centre of Salta, surrounded by lush green valleys and gorges to explore.

Accommodation & Facilities

There are 12 luxurious, 14 luxurious Junior rooms, 2 Classic rooms which also feature balconies – located in the former dormitories of the house, and 2 suites in the same location. The suites also have a sitting area, 2 TV’s and views to the Plaza Guemes, and the bathrooms have the added bonus of hydromassage. All rooms and suites feature a mini bar, satellite TV, digital safe, individual hot and cold air conditioning and the internet. Décor has been kept traditional with beds manufactured from wood or iron and bronze, by local artisans and light airy décor.

Hotel Solar de la Plaza ha a lobby lounge bar, business centre, garages and a laundry and dry cleaning shop. The health club and swimming pool are on the roof top, with fabulous views of the hills and includes a gym, sauna and solarium.

Dining

The restaurant is called ‘La Terraza’ and offers Andean food and international cuisine with a varied menu. The views from here are to the luscious internal gardens, creating tranquil and serene surroundings over dinner.

Activities

Activities from the hotel can be arranged and include horseback riding, bird watching, trekking, mountain biking and rafting, among others and the location I to be seen to be believed. Explore numerous gorges such as Del Toro or De la Conchas or visit the Calchaquies Valleys. The landscape and climate here are so varied, from jungle to arid orange rock and freezing cold Puna to tropical Caco Salteno, that the opportunities to explore are endless.

Its not just nature here that is the attraction, Salta is rich in history and culture; explore colonial architecture, visit the painted caves of Guachipas, check out a museum, a national park or take a ‘Train to the Clouds’…
