Day by day

Day 1

Arrive in Galapagos - Chinese Hat Island

Arrive at the airport in Baltra & transfer to the dock. Check-in to your cabin before attending an introductory briefing & safety drill. After lunch on board, you will begin cruising to your first visitor site, Whaler Bay - a beautiful green sand cove at the base of Dragon Hill and Eden Islet, home to a great variety of seabirds and marine iguanas which is also a great snorkelling site. Return on board for a welcome cocktail and dinner and a chance to really get to know your fellow passengers.

Overnight: M/Y Grace (L, D)

Day 2

Santa Fe & South Plaza Island

After a wet landing you will walk up to a nearby cliff to see the land iguanas through an area of Opuntia Cactus. After lunch, visit South Plaza Island and its land iguanas wandering through bright red carpet weed. You will see swallow-tailed gulls nesting around the overhang tops and red-billed tropicbirds, frigatebirds and shearwaters flying with dancing displays.

Overnight: M/Y Grace (B, L, D)

Day 3

Genovesa Island

After breakfast, make your way to Prince Phillips steps, a steep climb up some stairs through a seabird colony full of life to the top of the tall cliffs. Once at the top the land is flat which allows for a stimulating walk to the other side of the island observing large numbers of red-footed boobies, large frigatebirds and storm petrels. In the afternoon make your way to Darwin Bay. Here you will enjoy a nice stroll and will wander past several species of birds, mainly frigate, red-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, lava gulls, swallow-tailed gulls, herons, finches and mockingbirds. You will also get the opportunity to swim and snorkel at this beautiful and natural harbour.

Overnight: M/Y Grace (B, L, D)

Day 4

Fernandina & Isabela Islands

After breakfast you will visit Urbina Bay. It is directly west of Isabela’s Volcano Alcedo, where you will make an easy, wet landing (a hop into a few inches of water). Walk on a stretch of three miles (5 km) of the marine reef that has been uplifted by as much as 13 feet (4 m) out of the water. Highlights of this excursion are the giant land iguanas and giant tortoises, as well as the opportunity to go snorkelling amongst marine creatures, or just relaxing on shore.

Overnight: M/Y Grace (B, L, D)

Day 5

Isabela Island

After breakfast you have the chance to visit Tagus Cove on Isabela Island. A wooden stairway rises to the trail entrance and continues around Darwin Lake through a dry vegetation zone and ends in a promontory formed by spatter cones. The site provides spectacular views of our anchorage in the bay, as well as Darwin and Wolf Volcanoes. In the afternoon, head north to Punta Vicente Roca. Snorkelling is incredible here as a result of the nutrient-rich waters of the Humboldt Current that bathe the western side of the archipelago. You will have a chance to see colourful fish, sea lions, penguins and sea turtles in the water. This is also a great spot to take an interesting panga ride to spot wildlife along the shores and cliffs.

Overnight: M/Y Grace (B, L, D)

Day 6

Santa Cruz Island

Enjoy breakfast on board before disembarking and heading Puerto Ayora for a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station accompanied by an expert guide. During your visit you will gain an insight into the huge efforts being made by scientists, guides, rangers and park managers to preserve this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will have the opportunity to see the famous Galapagos tortoises, namesake of these famous islands. Shortly after, take a bus ride to the highlands of Santa Cruz to see wild giant tortoises. Return on board for lunch followed by an afternoon of free time to explore.

Overnight: M/Y Grace (B, L, D)

Day 7

Espanola Island

After breakfast visit Punta Suarez, Española Island. As you walk further inland, Nazca and blue-footed boobies nest near the trail and the trail continues towards a blowhole, which is a fissure in the lava where water spurts high into the air like a geyser. After lunch visit Gardner Bay on Española Island for swimming, snorkelling or kayaking. Gardner Bay offers the chance to enjoy a wonderful white sandy beach. It is home to one of the most important colonies of sea lions, and it is also a nesting site for sea turtles. Return to the boat for a farewell cocktail and dinner.

Overnight: M/Y Grace (B, L, D)

Day 8

Depart Mosquera Island

Before breakfast take an optional panga ride to Mosquera Islet. Mosquera Islet is a tiny islet, home to a huge population of sea lions and also home to many shorebirds. While at Mosquera, keep your eyes peeled as there are occasional sightings of dolphins and orcas. After breakfast attend a Galapagos documentary screened in the main lounge followed by snacks in the al fresco dining area before disembarking for your airport transfer.
