Style
Neeleshwar Hermitage is a beautiful beach hotel located in a quiet, unspoilt corner of Northern Kerala. The cottages are in a rustic style, designed on traditional fisherman huts. With a wonderful peaceful atmosphere, Neeleshwar is a picture-perfect destination for relaxation.
Setting
Neeleshwar Hermitage is set on an unspoilt beach in northern Kerala - a region traditionally known as Malabar - about 25km south of the town of Kasaragod. The nearest airport is a 2 hour drive north to Mangalore.
Accommodation & Facilities
Neeleshwar Hermitage offers 18 cottages set back from a stunning long and deep Keralan beach and all have en-suite outdoor bathrooms. The cottages are spacious, light and airy featuring teak floors, high ceilings and locally handmade furniture and both antique and contemporary works of art from Kerala. Facilities at the hotel include a swimming pool and a spa offering traditional massages, aromatherapy, facial and beauty treatments and rejuvenation therapy.
Dining
The hotel has two restaurants – the Annapurna restaurant serving authentic, predominantly vegetarian, Indian cuisine and the delightful Meenakshi restaurant, located by the infinity pool and overlooking a beach where rare Olive Ridley turtles nest. It also offers fabulous fresh seafood caught by the local longboats the same day.
Activities
Neeleshwar is perfect for those wanting to relax by the pool or on the beach. For the more active, there is a brilliant opportunity to explore a part of Kerala that few tourists visit. Take a boat trip round the undiscovered northern backwaters, or head up to Bekal to visit the impressive coastal fort. You can also visit untouched local villages where the extraordinary masked trance rituals of thettayam take place, and jungle temples.
