What is your favourite destination? My favourite destination I’ve been to is Peru, I had so many amazing experiences while I was there, topped off by going up to Machu Picchu for sunrise. My favourite animal is a Meerkat, ever since I watched Meerkat Manor when I was younger.
What is your first travel related memory? A family trip to Disneyworld when I was 3, and the main thing I remember is watching lizards running up the trees outside our lodge!
What is your most memorable wildlife encounter? When I was in Peru I went on a boat tour of the Ballestas Islands we had dolphins coming up out of the water all around the boat and saw penguins and seals on the beaches, as well as thousands of birds overhead.
If you could do just one NWS safari, which one would it be and why? I would love to go to Madagascar to see the lemurs as well as some amazing marine wildlife, I think the Madagascar & Mauritius Island Hopping Safari would encompass both of these in an amazing way, alongside the experience of zip-lining through the forests in Southern Mauritius.
What do you like doing outside of NWS? I’m lucky to live only 5-minute walk from the beach so I love going down there for walks, attempting to roller-skate and finding new places to eat.
Why do you travel? I love to experience new cultures nd ways of life and of course amazing food. I also love getting involved in activities I would never do in day to day life, such as kayaking, snorkelling and wildlife encounters.
What do you love most about Africa? I love the sheer diversity of Africa as a continent, you could be on grassy open plains, tracking mountain gorillas, free diving with whale sharks or relaxing on a beach.
Aside from travelling, how do you maintain your connection to the natural world? I go on lots of walks down by the beach and in the South Downs to feel connected to nature.
How many countries and continents have you visited? I have visited 4 continents and 19 countries.
Do you have any travel habits or rituals? Anywhere I go I collect some of the local currency and some stamps and also try to send a postcard back to myself to see the post stamps it collects.
What is the best travel advice you have received? Don’t always follow a map – sometimes you just need to wander.
Out of all the places you've visited, which one surprised you the most? I went to Lisbon, expecting it to just be a good trip with some sightseeing and sunshine and it turned out to be one of the best trips I’ve ever taken, we stayed in a Hostel and they ensured we got to do exciting activities every day, going to Fado bars and taking a trip to Belem tower and tried the original Pasteis de Belem. Also, just by coincidence, we were there during the Santo Antonio celebration so we got to experience an amazing day and night of festivities.
