1. Katmai National Park

1. Katmai National Park

If you want to see grizzly bears in the wild, Katmai National Park is one of the best places in the world to see them. If watching bears eating and playing in their natural environment is on your bucket list, this has to be the place in the world to tick it off!

We love Brooks Falls and it's where bears mass for the salmon run. A platform stretches out above the bears, allowing for close-up views with minimal disturbance to the bears. This incredible accomodation is available on our Ultimate Alaska Safari.

2. Kodiak National Park

Of all the bears in North America, none are as extraordinary as those in Kodiak. The bears of Kodiak are larger than any other brown bear or grizzly! In fact, they’re similar in size to the polar bear!  Kodiak now has nearly 3,000 grizzlies and by exploring on a small ship cruise you enable unique encounters with them, along with a chance to enjoy this tranquil landscape.

You can experience these amazing bears in a very special way - on a small ship cruise on the aptly named Grizzly Cruiser  Our 8 day Kodiak Bear Tour takes in Kodiak & Katmai National Parks and, with only 4 cabins on the ship, it really is a very intimate once in a lifetime trip!

4. Knight Inlet

This remote inlet is home to a huge amount of grizzly bears and is one of the top places in British Columbia for spotting them.  It’s not unusual to view 10 bears or more on a single safari, a truly exhilarating experience. You can see the grizzles in the grassland or by the water and, in the late season, you can experience the amazing spectacle that is the Salmon Run.

The beautiful Knight Inlet Lodge is a floating lodge with the most spectacular of settings. Our Grizzly Bears & Whales Self Drive Safari gives you 3 nights to spend there and explore the spectacular wildlife and sights.

5. Great Bear Rainforest

5. Great Bear Rainforest

The Great Bear Rainforest, located in British Columbia, is sheltered between the Pacific Ocean and the mountains and is home to grizzly, black and the fabled spirit bear.  A remote landscape that has remained untouched from mass tourism is home to a handful of stunning lodges. At Spirit Bear Lodge, you can go in search of all 3 types of bears in their natural home, in the only place on the planet where this is possible.

On our Grizzlies, Spirit Bears & The Great Bear Rainforest Safari you can enjoy 2 different bear lodges going in search of grizzles and, if you get lucky, you might find the legendary spirit bear!
