Ben Jackson

POLAR GUIDE AND EXPEDITION LEADER

Growing up in New Zealand’s great outdoors, Ben has been involved in outdoor activities his whole life. From a young age, his weekends were spent on the water sailing Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf and exploring the Coromandel Ranges. Currently, Ben works as a polar expedition leader and white-water kayak instructor, sharing his time between New Zealand, California, Norway, Denmark and the Antarctic.

A degree in Adventure Recreation and Outdoor Education has led Ben to teach and guide in many facets of the outdoors over the course of his 20 years as an educator. Ben’s passion for adventuring and photography have taken him on many trips around the globe, taking in destinations such as Svalbard, Greenland, Antarctica, Uganda’s White Nile and the USA’s Grand Canyon, as well as a month-long expedition in the Indian Himalayas.

His passion for wildlife, adventure and people make him ideally suited to working with the adventures and challenges of life in the world's polar regions. When not building on his 100+ trips throughout the Arctic and Antarctic, he likes keeping things interesting with photography, kayaking, mountain biking, climbing and surfing. Ben is one of the co-founders of the Expedition Guide Academy where he works training and developing current and aspiring expedition guides.
