Under the stars, away from the pollution of a city, the camps all vary in standard and size, moving around Sri Lanka’s National Parks, Jungles and villages.
Camps are mobile and cover some of the best wildlife destinations in Asia; some of the most popular destinations are Bundala National Park – a paradise for birders, Dembana Veddah Village – to meet the aboriginal people and the lush forests and classic range of wildlife in Wasgamuwa National Park.
Accommodation & Facilities
Mahoora Safari Camps are made up of 3 varieties, including Luxury, Premium and Standard. All provide a high level of staff and great, attentive service – but the facilities do change across the camps.
Luxury Tents have large bedrooms and a spacious living area. The en-suite bathroom has hot and cold running water, showers, flushable toilets and is carpeted wall to wall. These tents and fully furnished in complete comfort and luxury, even adding lit candles to enhance the majesty and splendour of the experience. Meals here include a 7 course dinner menu and they provide chilled drinks and snacks during your safari. The vehicles used on safari have seats on three levels, all cushioned to provide the highest level of comfort and to maximise your viewing experience. Electricity is supplied here, so there are lights in the tents and places from you to charge your cameras and phones. All food and drinks are included in the Luxury tents.
Premium Camps are also spacious, but with a living area outside the camp and flushable toilets close by. Hot water is available on request and there is a well stocked bar for you to purchase chilled drinks. Dinner consists of 5 courses and chilled drinks are provided during your safari. There is no electricity in the Premium Camps.
Mahoora Standard Camps are similar to the Premium Camps, with no electricity. The Safari vehicles they use are to a high standard, although maybe not to the same high comfort level of the other two camps.
Food in all the camps is freshly prepared on site and varies from a fine dining experience (Luxury) to a social and friendly barbeque.
This varies depending on which camp you are staying in, varying from game drives and visits to the local villages to mountain biking, caving, nature trails and rock climbing!
Children are welcome.
The Mahoora Safari Camps have their own Eco Team, guided by their community, environmental and cultural sustainability policy.
