On the south-west coast of Sri Lanka, Jetwing Lighthouse enjoys a spectacular location, nestled on a small hillock right on the beach. Just before the centre of the ancient Dutch outpost, now Galle city, it is in the perfect spot for activities, such as whale watching and sight-seeing alike.

Designed using teak and granite by the late Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka’s iconic architect, this beach boutique features a tranquil spa, swimming pools and a balcony or terrace for every room.

Setting

Right on the beach of south-west Sri Lanka, close to Galle city centre, 142km from Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, or a 45 minute domestic flight to Koggala Airport.

Accommodation & Facilities

Each of the 60 luxury rooms are superbly decorated, blending modern minimalism with an elegant colonial style. There are also 3 themed suites, each uniquely designed at nearly double the size of the luxury rooms, including a separate sitting area.  All rooms and suite include air-conditioning, mini-bar, television, phone and tea and coffee making facilities. Each room also has its own bathroom complete with a bath and separate shower, as well as a balcony or terrace to appreciate the views.

There are two pools, one for children and one for adults, as well as a spa, fitness centre and steam room. You will also find a business centre with internet facilities, a boutique and a pool table.

Dining

The fine dining option here is Cinnamon Room, which, with its dim lighting and a la carte menu is perfect for special nights. Vegetarian, special diet and children’s menus are available. The Cardamom Café is a bit more casual, serving light snacks and refreshments throughout the day and a casual buffet in the evening. There is also a Bar and Grill, as well as The Coats of Arms Bar has a nice open terrace and uninterrupted views as the sun sets over Galle.

Activities

There are numerous spa treatments and facilities available, as well as lots of things to do at the hotel, from the swimming pool to the pool table. Spend your time here relaxing under the sun, sand between your toes, or head out whale watching in season. At night, enjoy the breathtaking sunsets or lap up the atmosphere in the hotel bar, where you can watch movies if you fancy. You should also visit Fort, the Dutch colonial part of Galle, which is now recognised as a world heritage site by UNESCO.
