About Namiri Plains, Serengeti National Park

Namiri Plains is located within the Serengeti National Park - in an area which has been inaccessible to the public for 20 years. The area has been a cheetah sanctuary prior to being the base for this camp and it has been claimed that there is the highest density of cheetah in Africa.

In Swahili the camps name ‘Namiri’ translates as big cat which is extremely appropriate for the camp and its setting.

Lodge Details

A small, intimate camp with a relaxed atmosphere and a huge focus on game viewing.

Namiri Plains is situated within the Serengeti, in the central Seronera area.

Accommodation & Facilities

The camp is made up of eight tented suites, which include a family tent and a honeymoon tent. Each of the tents has an en-suite bathroom as well as a large outdoor terrace for you to relax on after a day of exploring, with a sundowner.

All meals are included at Namiri Plains with all dishes being made from as much fresh and locally produced ingredients. Breakfast often takes place upon Soit le Motonyi rock and it is possible to bring a packed lunch for you to enjoy during your game drive. Dinner is a lot more formal and consists of a three course dinner under the stars.

The main focus at this camp is game drives and walking safaris; the camp has its own safari vehicles which are taken out daily. There are also walking safaris where you will be taken out into the wild in search for the big 5 (in particular the big cats); the guides have excellent inside knowledge about the area and the wildlife that resides there, many have grown up in the surrounding areas.
