Shamwari Bayethe Lodge is a lovely lodge overlooking an active waterhole in the Shamwari Private Game Reserve, situated in the malaria free area of the Eastern Cape.

The main lodge at Bayethe is a splendid stone and thatch structure with a large deck area. There is a lounge and dining area that spills out onto the decking which is next to the boma where traditional fireside meals are had under the stars. There are 9 luxury tents each with en-suite facilities, a plunge pool and viewing deck, air con and heating and the premier tents have the addition of a fireplace and hammocks. 

Shamwari Private Game Reserve is a malaria free, family friendly, big five game reserve in the Eastern Cape making it ideal for an extension to the Garden Route.

Style

A very luxurious tented camp offering an authentic safari experience.

Setting

In the famous Shamwari Reserve, just 45 minutes by road from Port Elizabeth. Each of the private tents is set along the river, nestled in the shade of the riverine trees.

Accommodation & Facilities

The locations of the tents ensure maximum privacy and an open front and large windows offer amazing panoramic views of the landscape. The tents are all en-suite, 6 have the option of an outdoor shower. Polished wood floors, dark wood furnishings and the odd splash of colour give a real authentic African feel. Tents also have their own private plunge pool and viewing deck overlooking the Buffalo River. There are 3 premier tents which have little added luxuries such as a fireplace, hammocks and satellite TV.

The main lodge is made from stone & thatch and consists of a large lounge, dining area with a cosy fireplace and a boma. There is also a swimming pool and large viewing deck.

Dining

Shamwari Bayethe Lodge has some fantastic and creative dishes, mainly served in the boma.

Activities

Early morning and afternoon game drives in open vehicles. There are also some fantastic guided walks and great bird watching.

Child Policy

Children must be over 12 to stay at Shamwari Bayethe Lodge.
