About Hog Hollow Country Lodge, Garden Route

Set within a private nature reserve against a backdrop of mountains and indigenous forest, Hog Hollow Country Lodge boasts spectacular views over the surrounding landscapes. Located east of the town of Plettenberg Bay, the lodge is on the famous stretch of scenic coastline known as the Garden Route. The lodge’s 16 suites have a relaxed feel and are decorated in a contemporary African-inspired style, with colourful woven fabrics and handicrafts.

Guests can look out over the forests surrounding the lodge from the comfort of their own private balcony.

Setting

Situated within the Hog Hollow Nature Reserve along the scenic Garden Route, overlooking the Tsitsikamma Mountains and about 20km east of Plettenberg Bay.

Accommodation and Facilities

The lodge is comprised of 16 suites and a large villa that was previously the owners home. The suites are situated in the gardens surrounding the main house, decorated in a contemporary African style. All suites are en suite, with king sized beds and a private wooden deck offering commanding views over the surrounding landscapes, but there are no phones or televisions. The villa is set 400m apart from the main lodge and has three bedrooms, an infinity pool and a spacious lounge area.

The main lodge area also features a pool with sun loungers, and massages and spa treatments are available on the secluded treatment deck.

Dining

Hearty three-course dinners and buffet breakfasts are generally served communally in the main lodge around a large dining room table, although private dining options are also available. 

Activities

Hog Hollow Horse Trails is located just a short distance from the lodge, from where guests can set out on horseback to explore the forest and countryside. There are a number of wildlife sanctuaries nearby which can be reached by foot or on horseback. Guests can also experience stand up paddling or a cruise down the Keurbooms River, or visit the town of Plettenberg Bay where a number of whale and dolphin watching trips are available.
