A Bit About Me

A Bit About Me

My main job here at Natural world Safaris, is to make sure everything works, and that we are always moving forwards. I dabble in all sorts, from designing guides and writing content, to overseeing all our systems and how they fit together seamlessly (!). I manage lots of different projects and oversee our brand message; my role really enables me to see the company as a whole, and not a day goes by where I don’t learn something new!

We say that I work in the back-office. So clients don’t really speak to me or my team on the phone, but we work incredibly hard to make everything work, and look beautiful at the same time. I started working here early in my 20's, and I've not looked back!

I’ve travelled quite a lot, spending time throughout Australasia, Europe and Canada. Although there may be no more month long stints away, I certainly still explore the world – although a lot of the time my trips are now built around snowboarding.

Q & A With Rachel

Where was your last trip?

Whistler and Vancouver in Canada

What is your first travel-related memory?

Not really a memory, but my mum still hasn’t let me live down my screaming ‘where’s the ground gone??’ on my very first flight as two years old. Flying still is not my favourite!

Aisle or window seat?

Definitely window seat.

Do you have any travel habits or rituals?

Nope, apart from a mild panic when the plane takes off.

What are you most likely to splurge on while travelling?

Food. I earned the name ‘three-dinner-Rach’ last time I was in Thailand. I need to try everything.

What’s your favourite thing about working at NWS?

The range of work involved, every day is different, no matter what your role it. I also love that we all pitch in outside of our job roles in order to support each other – there’s a real sense of team spirit.

What do you like doing outside of NWS?

I love winter sports and dance as well as tackling the gym when I can, and bouldering too.

If you could do just one NWS safari, which one would it be?

Anything to Madagascar, that place really fascinates me.

What is your spirit animal?

I did a quiz and it said butterfly, so I re-did it and it came up with marsh harrier - much happier being a bird!
