A Bit About Me

A Bit About Me

Putting together peoples dream safaris is a real privilege and listening to their stories on return is without doubt a highlight of the job. Going on a safari is a truly awe inspiring experience and Africa is a place that has certainly got under my skin so I love to be able to share this with others.

After spending a few years living in the South African bush moving to Brighton was almost the polar opposite and now I couldn't imagine wanting to live anywhere else even though I was not born and bred here.

Q & A With Olly

Where was your last trip?

A staycation to the Norfolk coast

Where is your next trip?

What is your first travel-related memory?

Probably quite similar to many other youngest children and being stuck in the middle seat on long car journeys.

Aisle or window seat?

Aisle, being 6'4" I will take any opportunity for a bit more leg space.

Do you have any travel habits or rituals?

Not really, although I do always like to have a bag of sweets with me for a flight.

What are you most likely to splurge on while travelling?

Food! Without doubt this is what I spend the most money on when I am away, well maybe wine also.

What’s your favourite thing about working at NWS?

A toughie to pick just one but on a day to day basis being in the centre of Brighton wins it for me.

What do you like doing outside of NWS?

Getting out and exploring both in Brighton itself, always something new to discover, or out in the surrounding countryside.

If you could do just one NWS safari, which one would it be?

One of our expeditions to Antarctica not picky which one!

Is there a standout destination in your mind?

I maybe a little bias but Southern Africa, it has it all -unbelievable wildlife, great weather, stunning beaches and buzzing cities.

What is your best travel souvenir?

I think my best is my masai blanket but its widely considered my worst from my friends!

What is the best travel advice you have received?

Rolling clothes up when packing, saves me so much space!

What is your spirit animal?

Giraffe - A gentle giant
