A Bit About Me

I work in Sales Support in the Africa team (the best team)! This means I am responsible for sorting through enquiries, helping create itineraries with the Destination Specialists, ensuring travel documents are correct and generally anything else Africa-related. I am Brighton born and bred with two parents who have worked in the travel industry, which was part of the reason I was so drawn to Natural World Safaris!

Aside from travelling, I like doing anything sporty and anything that involves food.

Q & A With Gabriella

Where have you travelled to in the last 12 months?

I have been fortunate enough to travel to South Africa and Mauritius last summer, as well as visiting New York in February.

Where are you planning to travel in the next 12 months?

I am heading back to New York at Christmas again and Argentina for my dad's 60th birthday next year.

What is your first travel-related memory?

My first travel-related memories involve a lot of planes. Missing planes, running through airports as we were accepted last onto a flight or changing destinations at the last minute. My mum worked for British Airways so we would travel on standby which always meant we had to be very flexible and just end up on whichever flight they had space on. We travel very much by the seat of our pants and many people have declared they would never want to go on holiday with us as it is too stressful!

Aisle or window seat?

Aisle - I always want to be able to get up and about.

Do you have any travel habits or rituals?

Getting to the airport super early and always managing to buy something I don’t need in the terminal!

What are you most likely to splurge on while travelling?

I would say accommodation - I always like to have a clean place to come back to. The other is food – when I’m away I love eating out and trying need foods.

What’s your favourite thing about working at NWS?

Working with people that have travelled and worked in some of the coolest places. Also the variety of the work, as no two trips are the same and I love seeing where our clients end up going and what they end up doing.

What do you like doing outside of NWS?

Running, skiing, travelling and playing with my dog.

If you could do just one NWS safari, which one would it be?

I think probably the Trans-Africa Epic Flying safari - how amazing to be able to cover that many countries and national parks in one trip. I would love to explore as much of Africa as I can and that trip seems perfect for that. I would also love to go to Canada to see the polar bears. Then again I wouldn’t say no to any of the trips that NWS offer…

Is there a standout destination in your mind?

Currently my top place that I want to visit is either Kenya or Tanzania to see the Great Migration. The Republic of Congo and Iceland are also up there, as I’ve never been to either.

What is your best travel souvenir?

A hand-painted skull from Mexico City that I bought from a man at the side of the road, or an anklet from a Buddhist temple in Thailand which I have worn for over five years.

What is the best travel advice you have received?

From my dad - don’t leave your phone out on the table in a restaurant. Very boring but very practical as my phone has yet to be stolen – yet…

What is your spirit animal?

An online quiz has told me that I’m a tiger: “In the kingdom of spirit animals, the tiger puts a special emphasis on raw feelings and emotions. The tiger spirit animal symbolises primal instincts, unpredictability, and the ability to trust yourself.”

What is your favourite thing about working in Brighton?

Being able to walk to work and go down to the beach at lunch.
