An authentic lodge with a rustic and tranquil atmosphere.
Setting
Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is on Fox Island, with fantastic views over Resurrection Bay. The island can be reached by Ferry.
Accommodation & Facilities
The 8 cabins are south of the main lodge, spaced out down a peninsular between the ocean and the fresh water lagoon. 4 of the cabins are in one building, 2 facing the lagoon and 2 facing the ocean. The others are in duplexes with water views. Each cabin has a queen and a twin bed with private bath and shower facilities and an alarm clock provided.
The main lodge is a short walk away from the cabins and is open from 6am till midnight for the use of guests. The communal and dining areas are warm and cosy, with a woodstove and lots of games around to play. There is also a campfire for guests to share the days stories over in the evenings.
Dining
Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge has its very own island chef preparing fine, gourmet meals for the guests. There is also beer and wine available to purchase with dinner.
Activities
Day cruises around Fox Island give guests the opportunity to really absorb this stunning landscape as well as finding whales, sea lions, puffins and eagles. There are interpretive talks with a knowledgeable naturalist guide who will teach you all about the flora and fauna in the area. Sea kayaking with a guide is an optional extra.
Not all activities here need to guided and guests are free to hike the forest trails and comb the fantastic beaches.
Child Policy
Children are generally allowed, however it is up to the parent to decide whether you child is ready for the requirements of group travel, will enjoy the experience and not compromise it for others. We suggest you speak to your Natural World Safaris specialist to discuss the specific trip requirements so you can decide on what is best.
Responsible Tourism
Most of the powered is provided by sun and wind. Guests are reminded to please turn off lights/electricity when not in use to preserve energy. There is an emergency diesel generator if needs be and staff have access to communications, there are no TV’s or phones in the lodge.
