Nestled amidst lush rainforest and a winding network of waterways, Aninga Lodge is located a short boat ride from the entrance to Tortuguero National Park. Tortuguero is one of the most wildlife-rich regions in Costa Rica, and is an important nesting site for several species of sea turtle. The lodge’s 32 rustic cabins are scattered throughout the grounds, connected by raised walkways which link them to the restaurant, bar and swimming pool.

A rustic eco-lodge built on stilts and raised platforms.


Set within dense rainforest, the lodge is just a five minute boat ride from the entrance of Tortuguero National Park and across the river from the town of Tortuguero.

Accommodation & Facilities

The lodge comprises 32 simple yet comfortable bungalows, each accommodating up to four people with a double and single bed. All rooms feature en-suite bathrooms and ceiling fans, and offer panoramic views over the surrounding rainforest.

In the main area of the lodge, Aninga also offers a restaurant and bar as well as a large outdoor swimming pool and a spa offering massages and aromatherapy treatments.


Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served buffet-style in the lodge’s on site restaurant. 


Most activities at the lodge are focused on exploring the national park, with guided walks and canal tours along the parks extensive network of waterways offered from the hotel, in search of the rich variety of wildlife found in the region. Guests can also enjoy a tour of Tortuguero village or a visit to the green turtle conservation museum. Between July and October, there is also a tour to witness the green sea turtle nesting that takes place every year at Tortuguero, as large numbers of turtles come ashore to lay their eggs on the beaches.
