Accommodating just 12 guests at a time, the M/V Kinfish was recently transformed from a Norwegian research vessel to a classic passenger ship.

The world's polar regions have long held a fascination for Chase Teron, and his passion for capturing these frozen landscapes on camera has led the Canadian to being one of the foremost up-and-coming photographers and Arctic guides there is. On this 11-day expedition you'll join Chase and a team of expedition leaders and naturalists as you explore the Svalbard Archipelago, home to vast snowfields, ice-choked fjords, frozen seas, towering mountains and rolling tundra. Inhabiting this Arctic wilderness are a plethora of animals, from seals and seabirds to humpback whales and polar bears. Chase will be on hand throughout your journey to share his expert photographic knowledge, accrued over years travelling the world with camera in hand. There are few more spectacular camera subjects than Svalbard and its wildlife, and you're sure to come away with once-in-a-lifetime images.
The boat was good and the crew fantastic. Chase, Nate and Beau were excellent guides and filled in quiet times with interesting talks. Chase was really helpful on the photography front. I give Chase a 10/10 – he made the trip! All the rest of the staff get a very close 9.5/10 and their diligence was much appreciated. Guests were fun and overall I had a great trip. The scenery was amazing and fun activities like wakeboarding and the polar plunge brought everyone together, and made the trip fun for everyone.
Loved everything about the trip! Didn’t go in having any set expectations but any I did subconsciously have were well exceeded! Guides were super informative and fun. Having Chase as a photography guide and Beau/Nate as expedition guides created a great mix of information over the trip. Crew on Kinfish were super friendly and lovely to be around – food was outstanding! Some of the best meals I’ve ever had. Wildlife encounters were incredible. Overall, everything was well organised and professionally run. The information provided prior to departure was very detailed, which was important for me, and the experience on the trip was just as excellent!
I would like to thank you for the most fabulous trip to Svalbard. The entire experience was absolutely amazing… far beyond my expectation. Everything was phenomenal. The ship and the entire crew were beyond words. Chase in particular was so very kind and approachable. I am grateful for the photography know-hows he gave me and I can't thank you enough for arranging this trip. I loved every minute of it!
The NWS staff were exceptional. Chase was a wealth of information on shooting and camera care in the difficult Arctic conditions, and worked on recommendations for further enhancing photos through the use of Lightroom. He and his knowledgeable expedition leaders worked together extremely well, making a trip of successful sightings even better by building a team out of 13 strangers.
Today you will arrive in Longyearbyen and board your expedition ship in the afternoon. Expert photographic guide Chase, along with your expedition leaders, will be waiting to meet you at the Radisson Blu Polar Hotel at 4pm, where you will be transferred to the ship. After being shown to your cabin, you'll have time to settle in ready to set sail through Svalbard's spectacular ice fjords in the evening. Please note that we recommend arriving one day prior to the start of the trip where possible in case of flight delays. We are happy to help you arrange an extra night's stay in Longyearbyen.
Overnight: M/V Kinfish (D)
Spend the next nine days aboard the M/S Malmo exploring the Svalbard Archipelago in search of Arctic wildlife. While your expert team plan the perfect route to maximise wildlife sightings, Chase will be on hand to help you make the most of the experience and help you capture the stunning landscapes and wildlife you encounter. The exact itinerary will depend upon the weather conditions, the density of the pack ice in the north, and wildlife opportunities. If ice conditions permit, you will circumnavigate the stunning Spitsbergen Island or perhaps head over to Kvitoya. During your safari you can expect to visit ice-filled fjords framed by breathtaking snow-capped peaks, towering cliffs home to colonies of seabirds numbering in their thousands, and gigantic glaciers crashing into the icy seas. Spend time cruising through the ice in search of polar bears as they hunt for seals, which often hitch rides on the passing ice floes. Look out for colonies of walrus basking on the beaches in the Arctic sun and watch for whales in the icy seas. While on shore landings, you may come across the Arctic fox or the Svalbard reindeer with its impressive antlers, and witness the beauty of Svalbard’s summer flora. Some of the places that you might visit are Prins Karls Fjordland, Krossfjord, Monaco Glacier, Raudfjorden, Hinlopen Strait, Hornsund, Edgeoya and Alkefjellet. By not having a fixed itinerary we can ensure that we put you in the right place at the right time to maximise wildlife encounters and the overall Svalbard experience.
Overnight: M/V Kinfish (B, L, D)
