|11 Days||£2499||Jun - Aug 2019 & 2020||Svalbard||Small Group Safari|
Spend your days watching the world go by from the observation deck of the M/S Expedition, cutting through the ice in search of polar bears, whales and walruses. If you want to stretch your legs then take advantage of some of the Zodiac missions or shore-based excursions on offer; learning what the Arctic north feel like up close and personal.
Today you will arrive in Longyearbyen where you will be met and embark the M/S Expedition - your home for the next 7 or 10 nights.
Overnight: M/S Expedition (D)
During your Arctic journey you will visit various sites around the Spitsbergen Archipelago by expedition ship, Zodiac and on foot. The exact itinerary is subject to change owing to local ice, wildlife and weather conditions. Each day will be planned to take advantage of the climate and locations of the wildlife. Svalbard is one of the few places on the planet that offers such a wealth of natural and cultural diversity. Whilst here you will visit ice-covered seas, breath-taking fjords and glaciers flowing into the sea. A bird lover's paradise, the Spitsbergen Archipelago offers fantastic opportunities to see ivory gulls, kittiwakes, little auks and, weather permitting, thousands of guillemots on the immense bird cliffs. Arctic fauna is also on the agenda as you look out for polar bears hunting seals, walrus hauled out on ice floes, Svalbard’s unique subspecies of reindeer and much more. In addition to wildlife you will visit historic sites of war, whaling, trapping and coal mining. The evening of the last full day of adventure will find the expedition ship anchored off Longyearbyen.
Overnight: M/S Expedition (B, L, D)
This morning you will disembark the M/S Expedition after breakfast, say your goodbyes and begin your journey home.
This is a small group, set departure aboard the M/S Expedition with up to 126 passengers. The M/S Expedition features stabilisers and due to its size, can often navigate further north than some of the larger ships. Each departure is led by seasoned professionals who, along with the crew will ensure you are in the best locations for optimum wildlife experiences.
The prices below are per person, exclude the cost of international flights, and are based on Category 1A Quad Cabins (four people sharing).
